Articuno (フリーザー, Freezer) is a legendary Pokémon which appeared exclusively in the Advance Frontier series.

History Edit

According to Jenny in Waking the Titans Part 1, Articuno made its home in the nearby Osiana Forest. After some strange occurrences in the forest, the legendary bird Pokémon became enraged and attacked Osiana Town, taking out its Pokémon Center in the process. It is later revealed to be under the control of Vicious, who was using the Wind Magatama to enslave it. It then appears alongside the other members of its trio at Team Rocket's mercy.

Biology Edit

Articuno is a large avian Pokémon with predominantly blue plumage with large wings said to be made of ice. It has a head crest that consists of three, darker blue rhombus-shaped feathers on its forehead and circular red eyes. Its beak is short and gray, and its long, thin legs are gray. It has a long, streamer-like tail that is longer than its body and the same shade of blue as its crest.

Personality Edit

According to legend, it appears before doomed travelers lost in icy regions. In reality, Articuno seems to be quite temperamental, and territorial, determined by its reaction to its roost in the forest being disturbed.

Abilities Edit

When Articuno flaps its wings, it can chill the moisture in the air around it, making snow fall, according to Silus' Pokédex.

Trivia Edit

  • Articuno has no two moves that are the same type. It shares this trait with Moltres.
  • If one does not count Lugia, it is the first of the legendary bird Pokémon to debut in the series, as well as the first seen by Silus.
  • Since this Articuno makes its home in Osiana Forest, rather than the cave in Safflower City, it is likely not the same Articuno. This is further supported by the fact that it is not Shiny. However, Officer Jenny does note, in Waking the Titans Part 1, that Articuno, in reference to this specimen, is known from Safflower City to Osiana Town, but that it hadn't been seen in decades.
