Rocket Executive Ivan
|Hometown||Unknown (in Kanto?)|
|Trainer class||Rocket Executive|
|Member of||Team Rocket|
Ivan (ノブナガ; Nobunaga) was an executive of Team Rocket and one of the leaders of the crime syndicate. He is a master planner, devising plans towards the completion of Team Rocket's objectives based on Giovanni's direction. It was rumored that Ivan had his own ambitions, unrelated to Giovanni's goals.
Little is currently known about Ivan, though it was believed that he originated from the Kanto region. He was a member of Team Rocket since its infamous operations in Kanto, though how he rose to the rank of Executive is currently unclear. Ivan was one of the best battlers of Team Rocket and was trusted with devising schemes for Giovanni's operations. He was also rumored to have a personal agenda, though there was no apparent basis to the myth.
Personality and traits Edit
- "I do not believe I need to explain what will happen if you fail me."
- —Ivan, to a Rocket grunt
Ivan was not a very forgiving person when his subordinates made mistakes. He frequently used his Houndoom to bring his subordinates in line, since the pain from the flames of a Houndoom was said to never disappear. Giovanni did not appear to distrust Ivan, despite the presence of rumors regarding Ivan and a personal agenda, alluding to Ivan's loyalty to Team Rocket and its goals.
Although his pokémon dutifully obeyed his commands, Ivan did not seem to hold them in any regard other than as tools that follow his will. He took care of his pokémon well enough, providing food and trained them now and them, though his attention, lately at least, was directed towards overseeing the progress of Team Rocket's plans.
Although Ivan favored designing tactics, his pokémon appear to revolve around delivering crippling and crushing blows, ripping the opposing pokémon apart quickly and decisively.
Behind the scenes Edit
The character used to represent Ivan is Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara!!.
Ivan and Giovanni are both variants of the name John, from Slavic and Italian origins respectively. The name Ivan was held by a number of Russian tsars.
